Lidar scanning is an invaluable tool for accurately documenting and representing buildings and interiors in vivid digital detail. Due to its efficiency, speed and accuracy, it has become significant in its use within architecture, construction and design.
The traditional methods of manual data gathering via distometers, tape measures, photographs and drawings are fast being superseded with this cutting edge technology. This makes it cost effective and data can now be delivered in a matter of days.
In comparison to conventional surveys, our scans can provide clients with buildings in astonishing detail. No matter how complicated the geometry, Lidar will capture it.
We can process data in a variety of ways- 2D floor plans, 3D models, elevations, walk throughs, fly throughs and animations. The clients can view point cloud data remotely online without the need for additional software. This allows instant access to assess and view the building in 3D.
Using the point clouds, we are able to extract floor plans, site plans, elevations, cross sections and Building Information Models of all buildings and environments.
We are able to deliver 2D and 3D models, with an accompanying 3D PDF, which can be viewed in standard software such as Adobe Acrobat.
Laser scanning has enabled Building Information Modelling (BIM) of all types of existing structures to be simplified. The resulting point cloud can be used as a reference in Revit and Autocad with models being created from individual scans or the aligned point cloud.
Digital 3D models can also be used with the latest three dimensional printers to create physical models to exact scale. This negates the traditional methods of manual assembly.
Our use of laser scanning has also been helpful in commercial and residential interiors by assisting spatial planning, scale and aesthetic development such as furniture and lighting design. Our scans are often required for client presentation as a template of ‘before’ and ‘after’ imagery.
